About Restless Development:

Restless Development is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing the potential of young leaders for positive change worldwide.

With a presence in nine countries, including Uganda, they focus on youth-led programs addressing critical issues.


Role Overview:

Position: Girl Champion (30 positions available)


Locations: Jinja City, Moroto, Napak, Jinja, and Mayuge Districts


Stipend: Modest monthly allowance based on level of involvement


Preferred Start Date: May 2024


Contract Duration: 12 months


Reports to: Programme Officer


Expected Travel: Occasional domestic travel may be necessary

Job Description:

As a Girl Champion, you will:

  • Participate in training on girl-led research and needs assessment.

  • Engage in workshops covering green entrepreneurship, career skills, climate activism, advocacy, storytelling, and community organizing.

  • Co-lead an inclusive needs assessment and evidence-building initiative.

  • Conduct community dialogues on gender norms affecting girls’ roles in climate solutions.

  • Assist in developing climate action plans and co-creating innovative solutions.

  • Facilitate peer support groups and mentorship sessions.

  • Collaborate in creating a Global Girls Climate Manifesto.

  • Engage in local coalitions and national/international climate events.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of fellow Girl Champions and community members.


Requirements:

Essential:

  • Age range between 18-24 years.

  • Strong passion for youth development and involving young people in decision-making.

  • Completed at least O-level education or equivalent experience in youth engagement.

  • Current resident of Jinja City, Jinja, Napak, Moroto, or Mayuge districts.

  • Fluent in both English and the local language of your district.

  • Deadline: April 5 2024
