Ensuring speed and efficiency in the verification and release of cargo
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive TIs from the Barrier and enter them into the delivery book before presenting them to the Customs Officer for validation.
Ensure that the validated Tis are promptly passed on to the Customer Service
Supervisor for distribution to CSOs
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly Reports to Customs
Carry out daily reconciliation of Transit, Imports, and Exports registers.
Ensure that all releases from CBC are excited without delay
Notify claims/legal section of any visible or suspected damage/shortage occasioned on the goods being verified.
Expedite verification including verification at third-party ICD and owner’s premises and ensure that the verified entries are forwarded back to CBC without delay
Liaise with the In Charge MET for allocation of verification Officers.
Secure customs releases and pass them over to the respective CSOs
Liaise with Logistics to ensure that released cargo is delivered
Accurate interpretation of Import documents and capture of the bill of entries
Monitor daily bond usage through validation reconciliation and exiting, thus enabling quick electronic bond cancellation.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Minimum Diploma qualification
Fluency in Clearing and Forwarding Procedures and Documents
East African Customs Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EACFFPC)
Computer literacy
Dependability
Attention to detail
Customer Service Skills, good communication and interpersonal skills.
