Job Overview
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Vendor Training Coordinator will oversee all vendor support activities throughout the Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Start-up, and Performance Testing phases of the facility. The role ensures the plant meets its production and performance goals while achieving McDermott’s contractual objectives.
This position involves planning, developing, and coordinating vendor mobilization on-site, covering both technical supervision and training requirements for the Central Processing Facility in Africa.
Additionally, the coordinator will manage vendor timesheets, reports, and records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Collaborate closely within the project team and with the client to maintain positive working relationships
Coordinate with the Commissioning Manager to ensure vendors are mobilized according to the Vendor Representative Schedule
Develop a comprehensive Vendor Training Plan for the facility
Maintain a list of all vendor contacts
Reach out to vendors for intervention activation when necessary
Ensure all vendors complete the required Site Induction upon arrival
Organize a kick-off meeting between the vendor and/or Construction & Commissioning teams at the site
Set up and manage the Training Centre, providing administrative support to vendors during training sessions
Ensure all training presentation materials are submitted by vendors in advance
Work closely with the Company Training Coordinator to ensure the Vendor Training Program remains effective
Compile records that support the Vendor Training Program
Gather and maintain vendor timesheets and close-out reports
Oversee and direct all expediting activities
Proactively initiate and manage tasks independently
Liaise with Project Supply Chain Management and Package Managers/Engineers

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications
Associate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent on-the-job experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role managing vendors and training programs
5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with an EPC contractor in the oil & gas industry
Experience in Supply Chain is an added advantage
Strong technical knowledge of construction and commissioning activities
Ability to effectively communicate solutions and concepts to both engineers and non-engineers
Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written; second language is a plus
Proficient in MS Office suite
Strong presentation skills for meetings with vendors, site management, and clients
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to various discipline needs
Ability to interact effectively with vendors and clients, demonstrating respect, understanding, and the ability to influence constructively at all levels
