Job Title: Trade Marketer

Marie Stopes Uganda (MSUG) is seeking a dynamic Trade Marketer to support brand visibility, demand generation, and sales growth of socially marketed products such as Lifeguard, Flame Condoms, Back-Up EC, and WellPlan Contraception. This role focuses on driving uptake through pharmacies, supermarkets, drug shops, clinics, and digital platforms.
The Trade Marketer will be a key link between the Commercial Sales, Marketing, and Product teams—ensuring product availability, retail excellence, and strong market positioning.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Channel Strategy
Develop and execute trade marketing strategies across retail channels.
Identify new market opportunities and stockist networks to expand reach.
Enhance brand presence using cost-effective approaches.
Retail & Distributor Relations
Support Medical Sales Reps in managing relationships with distributors, stockists, and wholesalers.
Negotiate visibility, in-store promotions, and shelf space.
Offer continuous support to partners to maximize availability and visibility.
In-Store Marketing
Design and oversee promotional materials, displays, and POS activities.
Conduct market visits to ensure merchandising standards and correct pricing.
Promotions & Activations
Plan and implement activations and promotional campaigns.
Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to align Above-the-Line (ATL), Below-the-Line (BTL), and Through-the-Line (TTL) strategies.
Market Research
Analyze consumer behavior, market trends, and competition to inform strategic decisions.
Deliver insights that drive growth and optimize channel performance.
Training & Materials Development
Train sales teams on product knowledge.
Develop sales tools including brochures, FAQs, and posters for trade engagement.
Data Analysis
Evaluate sales performance against trade initiatives.
Report on KPIs and make data-driven recommendations.
Budget Management
Manage trade marketing budgets effectively.
Forecast and track resource needs for optimal implementation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Growth in market share across product categories
Expansion into new retail/distribution channels
Product availability and visibility in key outlets
ROI on promotional activities
Execution and impact of POS campaigns
Customer acquisition and retention rates
Sales volume growth and campaign target achievements
Retailer satisfaction and engagement
Quality and outcome of training initiatives
Brand perception improvements

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (required)
At least 5 years of experience in trade or product marketing
Proven success in relationship-building, negotiation, and promotional planning
Skilled in sales data analysis and demand generation
Proficient in IT and digital marketing platforms
Valid driving license with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience
Familiarity with family planning products is a plus
