Job Description
The Technical Manager will be the principal subject matter expert on agricultural extension services and training under the Kuku Biashara project. This position will manage and coordinate extension and training strategies, ensuring quality service delivery among farmers and stakeholders. The role requires active engagement in curriculum development, capacity building, implementation of farmer field schools, coordination with partners, and documentation of project impact. The manager will support digital tools integration and collaborate with M&E for reporting and learning.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement extension and training strategies
Standardize technical content, curricula, and training materials
Build capacity of project staff and sub-grantees
Supervise extension services and ensure quality delivery
Promote adoption of Good Agricultural and Husbandry Practices (GAHP)
Manage day-to-day training activities including farmer field schools
Guide farmers through demo plots and improved farming techniques
Develop partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders
Participate in external engagements and stakeholder forums
Prepare reports, manuals, and guidelines for training activities
Engage with digital tools for scale and operational efficiency
Support M&E activities and ensure accurate project performance reporting

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in agricultural extension or advisory services
Expertise in poultry, soybean, sunflower, and sorghum value chains
Experience implementing climate-smart agriculture and market systems
Skilled in curriculum design, training, and facilitation
Familiarity with private/public sector partnerships and community engagement
Experience with international organizations is an added advantage
Competencies:
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Fluency in English required; Swahili preferred
Computer proficiency and familiarity with digital agriculture tools
