Job Description
Job Title: Taxation Officer - Compliance & Regulatory Filing

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Chrif Enterprises Ltd. is looking for a meticulous Taxation Officer to manage tax compliance, ensuring the accurate and timely filing of returns in line with URA and URSB regulations. This role is vital to maintaining compliance and navigating tax-related processes effectively.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file accurate tax returns with URA and URSB, ensuring compliance with VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax regulations.
Track and adhere to tax deadlines to avoid penalties and interest.
Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimize the company’s tax obligations within legal frameworks.
Stay informed on changing tax laws and provide updates and advice on their application.
Liaise with URA, URSB, and other regulatory bodies to resolve tax-related issues, including audits and disputes.
Maintain and organize accurate tax records to facilitate audits and future filings.
Provide strategic insights to management regarding the company’s tax position and help in financial planning.
Monitor tax audits and assist in managing disputes with tax authorities.
Review and update internal processes to ensure ongoing compliance with tax regulations.
Advise management on tax implications of business decisions such as mergers, acquisitions, or capital expenditures.
Ensure compliance with international tax laws for cross-border operations and transactions.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in tax compliance and filing.
Strong understanding of Uganda’s tax laws and regulations, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax.
Proficiency in accounting software and URA online tax portals.
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with tax authorities.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
A proactive problem-solving approach and strong compliance management skills.
Certification in Taxation or Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) is a plus.
Familiarity with international tax treaties and regulations is a plus.
Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with tax authorities.
