1. Provide satisfactory client service and enhance voluntary compliance 

a) Onboard and monitor taxpayers across the compliance cycle

 b) Validate taxpayer declarations and monitor on-time filing and payments

 c) Verify Taxpayer Refund claims

 d) Carry out tax field inspections and enforcement activities

 e) Conduct compliance audits 

 f) Promote voluntary tax compliance, provide client support and enhance stakeholder engagement

 g) Prepare periodical reports as required under department guidelines

 h) Enhance business processes and support system improvements

 i) Review policy needs and generate policy proposals to enhance voluntary taxpayer compliance


2. Assess taxes payable and advise the clients on the payment process to enable collection

 a) Vet documents to ascertain accuracy in the declarations made to determine tax payable

 b) Assess taxes payable and advise the clients on the payment process to enable collection

 c) Generate a Payment Registration Notice (PRN) or an amendment reflecting additional tax to be paid based on findings from the physical verification

 d) Conduct compliance checks on taxpayer information from various sources to minimize revenue loss and enhance compliance



3. Improve voluntary compliance 

a) Monitor emerging business activities in the field to foster Voluntary compliance in registration, declarations, and payments. 

 a) Implement initiatives identified in the compliance improvement plan.

 b) Maintain the accuracy of the Taxpayer ledgers

 c) Monitor and manage taxpayers’ arrears portfolio

 d) Implement a Digital Tracking Solution (DTS) and monitor taxpayer compliance. 

 e) Implement Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) and monitor taxpayer compliance. 


4. Conduct activities to facilitate trade, minimize revenue loss, and enhance compliance in line with Customs laws and procedures

 a) Carry out cargo management activities to guide the assessment of customs taxes payable

 b) Examine and review transaction documents to ascertain completeness, authenticity, and accuracy 

 c) Identify risks regarding the compliance of the taxpayers and liaise with their respective tax stations to ensure enforcement


5. Conduct data analysis to improve taxpayer compliance  

a) Analyze industrial trends and design risk mitigation strategies.  

 b) Compile and collate data to support Compliance Management initiatives. 

 c) Identify risks regarding the compliance of the taxpayers considered under the deemed VAT provision and liaise with the respective tax stations to ensure enforcement.

Essential Requirements    

a)    An honors Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in a recognized academic institution.

b)    An impeccable record of integrity 


Desirable Requirements    

a)    Training in any of the following areas i.e. Customer care, Report writing, Data analytics Knowledge    

b)    A fair understanding of Ugandan Tax Laws

c)    Knowledge  of different Languages like Swahili, French, Chinese, and others
