System Programmers job at PostBank Uganda (PBU)

Job Description

The job holder will perform all activities related to automating manual processes as well as Software development. Their Responsibilities will include designing, implementing, testing systems and training users on the newly developed system as well as adhere to Bank policies and procedures pertaining to the Development, Design, security, and integrations of systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities /Key Deliverables

  • Responsible for researching, designing, implementing and managing software programs.

  • Build and use computer-assisted software engineering (CASE) tools to automate and code.

  • Use code libraries, which is a collection of independent lines of code to simplify code.

  • Confirm project requirements by reviewing program object, input data and output requirements with analyst, supervisor and client.

  • Debug programs by testing for and fix errors

  • Arranges project requirements in the programming sequence by analysing requirements, preparing a work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language and logic

Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Required

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Software engineering/development, Computer programming, Computing, Information technology, Management, Engineering, or any IT-related discipline.

  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in Digital Banking project management setting

  • Relevant Practical training in technology projects in the financial services sector, any other certification would be added advantage.

  • Ability to work in a team as well as an individual with little or no supervision.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of cross functional business initiatives and how they interact, exposure to process redesign methods, understanding of process modelling, analysis and simulation tools, understanding of project management and change management.

  • Expertise in using system analysis methods to break apart and reconfigure process stages.
