The Junior Business Partner - Technology is part of the Corporate Performance Management team (CPM) at the Company and responsible for ensuring alignment between the business unit and finance in order to bring financial insights and challenges to the business strategy, and the process of planning, budgeting, financial reporting and analysis processes and exercises in accordance with MTN’s company policies, procedures and contractual obligations.
The Junior Finance Business Partner - Technology, reports to the Manager, Finance Business Partner Technology. The position will interface with Oracle workflows and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that will be aligned with the KPIs of the business and Finance to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Main Job Functions:
Strategy Implementation
• Lead creation of sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals
• Ensure effective implementation of company and sub-divisional strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans and support.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem.
Operational Delivery
• Gather assumptions and business drivers critical for defining the business plan.
• Provide insights and challenge the process to ensure that business plans are more commercially robust from initiation.
• Provide support in the requisition process to align the item numbers to correct chart of accounts.
• Detailed investment appraisals, evaluate business cases and assist in conducting feasibility studies.
• Prepare and update Line and Business heads with key analytics to enable decision making.
• Timely respond to both internal and external audit queries and requirements
• To help in the Identification and assessment of risks, within the business
• Assist in the development and implementation of plans to address the risks identified in the business.
• Provide Financial support in drafting Network Contracts
• Raise accruals for all Network costs not yet invoiced and reverse invoiced ones.
• Provide a detailed Network Opex report to CTIO monthly and liaise to correct any mis postings.
• Follow up on all Network Vendor payments and Purchase order.
• Ensures compliance to external regulatory requirements (e.g., disclosure and reporting)
• Foster a conducive customer-focused environment and MTN culture.
Communicate and liaison with the various operational Functions and Lines of Business
• Liaising with divisional heads and managers to understand specific requirements relating to financial planning.
• Support business unit as the first point of contact for various Finance operational activities including payment processing, etc.
• Assist Business segment head in budget estimations and monitoring.
• Prepare and update Line and Business heads with key analytics to enable decision making.
• Obtain operational feedback on Finance services from Business Segment Head
• Provide financial assistance and support services as maybe requested from the Business Segment / Employee on a case-to-case basis.
Planning and Budgeting support
• Provide guidance and support on planning, budgeting, and forecasting process for Network Business Unit.
• Provide financial inputs into business strategy and collaborate with Network department Business Unit and other MTN Opcos to assist in implementing integrated business plans.
Reporting
• Prepare and analyse operational reports to management on a monthly, quarterly, annually relating to progress made within the operation and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organization.
• Prepare and analyse reports on specific projects as per the defined business objectives.
• Review financial viability of proposals and assess business impacts for special commercial projects.
Project Support
• Review financial viability of proposals and assess business impacts for special commercial projects.
• Conduct post evaluation of business cases and assess if the benefits are obtained (CAPEX and OPEX benefits)
Exceptions Handling and Reporting
• Perform root cause analysis for SLA non-compliance and take corrective action.
• Identify potential sensitive issues and escalate it to the appropriate level.
Governance
Adhoc and Operational Meetings
• Set up / participate in adhoc and operational meetings.
• Report at process and functional level
Escalations
• Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery.
• Escalate issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/client or cost impact if not resolved.
• Manage and provide solutions to issues that require formal resolution.
Operational
• Set up, manage, and deliver action points related to project status meetings.
• Review and identify key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions.
• Manage monthly operational reporting/ cost management/forecasts.
Performance
• Analyse and prepare performance of the Network department operation to management on a monthly, quarterly, annual basis as per agreed KPIs and SLA.
• Monitor and make suggestions for continuous improvement of performance.

Education
• bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
• Relevant professional qualification e.g., Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant would be advantageous).
Work Experience
• 2 years of relevant experience in Financial Management in a multinational business environment, Telecommunications industry experience preferred.
• Experience in similar leadership role with a global/ multi-site organization, ERP (Oracle), MS Office (Word, Excel, power point and Outlook), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices (Finance).
• Experience in Finance leading practices and trends.
