Study Coordinator job at Infectious diseases research

Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC)

The study coordinator for the IBIS-Megatrial project is responsible for the day-to-day running of the IBIS-Megatrial study in SW Uganda study sites. S/he will oversee research participants' recruitment and enrolment, data collection and management, and work with the study facilities to implement HIV -retesting megatrial interventions

  • Coordinate and oversee the IBIS megatrial study in Southwestern Uganda health facilities and communities.

  • Engage meaningfully with the different stakeholders involved in HIV testing activities for participation and involvement in the HCD workshops

  • Work closely with the health facility in charges and health workers involved in HIV testing to ensure that HIV re-testing activities are implemented out smoothly

  • Ensure that the research data collected are accurate and adhere to the study protocol in accordance with Good Clinical Practices

  • Supervise staff members working on the study to ensure that they deliver on their study outputs and adhere to IDRC policies

  • Ensuring all the regulatory documentation of the study particularly ensuring that study continuous review forms are complete and filled appropriately


  • Participate in training of study staff to conduct and implement the IBIS Megatrial project using the study protocol and SOPs.

  • Liaise with the health facility in charge and study technical team leads to ensure the safety of study teams while in the field.

  • Provide weekly study updates /reports to the study team as required from time to time.

  • Participate in weekly study meetings as scheduled by the study team.

  • Participate in budgeting and developing annual work plans for the study.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a reputable University/ institution

  • A Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field with a valid annual practicing license

  • At least two years’ progressive work experience in HIV related programs and/or community HIV research institution


  • Previous training in HIV combination prevention including PrEP delivery at community level is an added advantage.

  • Must have good computer and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have valid GCP and HSP certificates
