Job Description
The Sports Producer will collaborate with the Sports Desk to identify key discussion topics and engaging guests for NMG’s sports shows. The ideal candidate will ensure that the programming is diverse, inclusive, and meets professional broadcasting standards. The role involves content planning, script editing, supervising equipment, aligning show formats with audience preferences, and managing digital engagement. Additionally, the Sports Producer will guide and brief show presenters, tailor content for digital platforms using audience insights, and uphold NMG’s editorial policy through strict quality control.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support and plan all sports shows and related news content.
Create and execute a digital media content strategy for sports.
Plan and schedule sports events, news, and shows in collaboration with reporters.
Edit TV scripts and provide direction to presenters.
Manage and oversee TV equipment used by sports reporters.
Coordinate the production of current affairs sports programming.
Brief, guide, and monitor show hosts to ensure alignment with editorial standards.
Conduct pre-broadcast quality checks of content.
Customize content for digital platforms using audience engagement data.
Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or a related field.
Professional Qualifications:
Post-graduate training in media, communications, or diplomacy is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in content creation or curation.
Excellent command of the English language.
Core Competencies:
Intellectual curiosity and deep understanding of local/regional issues.
Strong writing and editing skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced media environment.
Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Familiarity with digital and social media platforms is desirable.
