Mountains of the Moon University (MMU)
A Sports Officer is responsible for promoting, organizing, and managing sports and recreational activities within an organization or community. Their role is to ensure that sports programs are effectively implemented, participants are engaged, and overall sports objectives are achieved.
Program Planning and Management
Program Development: Design, develop, and implement sports and recreational programs for various age groups and skill levels.
Event Coordination: Organize and manage sports events, tournaments, and competitions, including logistics, scheduling, and promotion.
Activity Scheduling: Plan and schedule regular sports activities and sessions, ensuring they meet the needs of participants and align with organizational goals.
Participant Engagement and Support
Participant Recruitment: Promote sports programs to encourage participation and increase engagement from the community or organization.
Training and Development: Provide training, guidance, and support to participants, coaches, and volunteers to enhance their skills and performance.
Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to improve sports programs and address any issues or concerns.
Facility and Equipment Management
Facility Oversight: Manage and maintain sports facilities, including scheduling usage, ensuring they are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Equipment Management: Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and inventory of sports equipment and supplies, ensuring they are available and in good condition.
Budget and Financial Management
Budget Preparation: Develop and manage budgets for sports programs, events, and facilities, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Fundraising and Sponsorship: Identify and secure funding through sponsorships, grants, and fundraising activities to support sports programs and initiatives.

A Bachelors Degree in Physical Education or Sports Sciences from a recognized Institution/University. Should have coaching qualifications of at least one (1) game i.e. athletics or swimming or rugby or any other f) Membership with national sports federation is an added advantage
Experience and competences
Not less than 3 years working experience in sports administration.
Working experience with students is an added advantage.
