Job Description
The role reports to the Manager - Power Operations North and involves preventive and corrective maintenance of power systems such as generators, transformers, rectifiers, UPS, HVAC, and diesel management in technical sites. The specialist will also support implementation of new projects, participate in power system planning, audit power solutions, and develop cost-effective energy strategies. Key tasks include database management, budget planning, vendor supervision, and ensuring power and cooling systems meet MTN and international standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain and optimize power infrastructure at switching centers and technical locations.
Monitor and report daily/weekly on power systems performance.
Ensure adherence to national and international standards.
Support project implementation and power planning initiatives.
Audit and recommend improvements to cooling and power systems.
Supervise installations and ensure vendor compliance with specifications.
Manage accurate power system databases and develop MIS reports.
Create cost estimates and scope of work for M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) projects.
Review and verify M&E designs and ensure successful project implementation.
Seek cost-effective energy solutions and drive implementation.
Reduce faults through proactive power system planning.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
BSc/HND in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Professional membership with an accredited engineering body is an added advantage.
Postgraduate qualification is a plus.
Experience:
3–7 years of experience in power system operations.
Hands-on experience in M&E designs and installations.
Practical experience with HVAC, UPS, transformers, generators, and rectifiers.
Skilled in power system design, cabling, and fault prevention.
Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent technical software.
Knowledge of data center design and Tier Certification standards.
Familiarity with power strategy, OPEX procurement, and contract processes.
Experience in a telecommunications environment is highly desirable.
