Job Description
The successful candidate will utilize expertise to ensure the safe and efficient use of equipment and manpower. This includes coordinating personnel and equipment, conducting safety meetings, maintaining compliance with mining regulations, and solving operational issues as they arise during the shift. The incumbent will also play a key role in productivity improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure qualitative and quantitative output through efficient use of resources
Implement cost-saving practices and lead productivity improvement projects
Foster a culture of continuous improvement
Investigate and report on all accidents/incidents
Organize personnel and equipment to meet daily production targets safely
Conduct site visits to monitor work procedures
Chair and report on daily toolbox safety meetings
Maintain a safe and environmentally friendly work environment
Use technical knowledge to address and resolve operational issues
Demonstrate understanding of topsoil and waste dump management

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a surface mine as a Supervisor
Strong understanding of applicable Mining Regulations
Experience in Surface Mining (Open Pit Operations)
Certificates in Mine Captain and Supervisory Skills Training
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams
Valid driver’s license (must be willing to acquire a site driving permit)
