About the Organisation

Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

Uganda National Oil Company - UNOC was incorporated as a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda in June 2015. Our overall function is to handle the Government of Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sub-sector and to ensure State participation in petroleum activities. The company is also mandated to investigate and propose new upstream, midstream, and downstream ventures initially locally and eventually internationally.

Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Finance

JOB TITLE: Senior Treasury Accountant (1 Vacancy)

REPORTS TO: Treasury & Project Finance Manager

JOB PURPOSE: The Senior Treasury Accountant is responsible for managing cash planning and overseeing the day-to-day operations of UNOC's banking and cash management systems.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manage and oversee all of UNOC's bank accounts, perform banking operations, and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Supervise all cash management systems to ensure timely payments to relevant parties in compliance with treasury control policies.

  • Implement established banking operations procedures to achieve effective cash concentration.

  • Book revenue and royalties payable for both company-operated and third-party operated domestic oil and gas leases.

  • Reconcile accounts receivable balances related to revenue bookings.

  • Perform trend analysis, explain significant changes in revenue bookings, and report relevant findings to the Head of Treasury and Financial Accounting.

  • Supervise monthly revenue accounting, including processing prior period adjustments and non-operated properties.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all treasury and financial reports, including monthly accruals and account reconciliations.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Full professional membership (ACCA / CPA).

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a dynamic organization, including at least 3 years in treasury-related roles in a reputable corporate setting.

  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage.

  • Experience using Treasury Management Software.

  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas value chain is a plus.

  • Expert understanding of accounting procedures and financial reporting practices.

  • Proven experience in business analysis.
