Job Description
Job Title: Senior Research Officer
Organisation: Danish Refugee Council (DRC)
Duty Station: Arua, Uganda
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Uganda is looking for a highly qualified person to fill the position of Senior Research Officer. The Senior Research Officer will technically support the ethnographic research in the local communities in Rhino Camp, including data management (ethnographic data), co-facilitate ethnographic trainings, support research findings dissemination, and cross border research visits.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist the research lead in ensuring high quality of the data, planning, implementation and follow-up of activities.
Transcribe interviews.
Support the development of training packages and co-facilitate training.
Attend weekly planning/status meetings with Team Leader and HQ team.
Support the capacity building and assessments of field assistants’ technical performance.
Be accountable for ensuring that agreed work plans and tasks set by the technical lead are completed in a timely manner.
Arranging logistics and procurement relating to the events, meetings, trainings, and as otherwise needed.
Support the arrangement of HQ missions.
Support engagement, facilitation and collaboration with partners and donors in the field, especially donor visits.
Attend to ad hoc tasks and responsibilities arising within the project.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
To be successful in this role we expect you possess the following:
Required
Experience with ethnographic research interview training
Experience conducting research among South Sudanese refugees, preferably in northern Uganda
Master’s degree
Work independently with high integrity towards the research and the research participants
Respected in the local community
Good interpersonal skills
Advanced English proficiency
Juba Arabic proficiency
Desirable
Nuer, Bari or Anuak proficiency
