Job Description
The Senior Planner Technician will be tasked with managing the overall project progress through effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring. This role includes preparing and implementing project plans, assessing risks, and ensuring adherence to technical, economic, and legal standards. The Senior Planner will collaborate with the Project Manager to track project progress and generate executive reports. The role also involves negotiating with vendors and contractors, providing estimates, conducting research, and making recommendations for process improvements. Sustainability, environmental impact assessments, and compliance with government regulations will also be part of the responsibilities. The Senior Planner Technician will ensure that project specifications, time schedules, and budgets are met while maintaining high standards of efficiency and quality.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement project plans, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Perform risk assessments and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimate and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
Support the Project Manager in tracking project progress and preparing executive reports.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, government regulations, and legal requirements.
Negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure competitive pricing.
Organize and attend meetings, tracking outcomes and deliverables.
Develop and update the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the project.
Provide project estimates and conduct research to support decision-making.
Monitor staff performance and address deficiencies as needed.
Make recommendations or present alternative solutions to challenges.
Assess the environmental impact and sustainability of the project.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Planning and Management, or a related field.
Postgraduate degree in Project Planning and Management is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in similar roles, ideally within construction projects.
Proficiency in planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, CAD, and GIS Applications.
High level of computer literacy and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to develop solutions and conduct analysis.
Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in calculations and design.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
