Job Description
Job Title: Senior Manager Community Conservation and Ex-Situ Wildlife Services
Organisation: Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinating the development of strategies and plans for Conservation Education, Captive Wildlife, Human-Wildlife Conflict, Community benefits and Enterprise management.
Regulating and licensing of private captive wildlife management Centres
Coordinating the development of relevant management and administrative policies, regulations, standards and guidelines.
Regulating and licensing wildlife trade, farming, hunting, ranching and other wildlife enterprises
Coordinating the implementation of Conservation Education Programs and projects in the country
Coordinating the management of Ex-situ Wildlife facilities, Human-Wildlife conflicts in the communities, Community benefits and enterprises accruing from wildlife Conservation.
Managing and accounting for revenue sharing and the wildlife compensation scheme.
Establishing and maintaining collaborative linkages with stakeholders in Conservation Education and Captive Wildlife Management.
Mobilizing resources to implement Community Conservation and Ex-situ Wildlife Management Strategies and Plans.
Preparing work plans and periodic reports.
Supervising and appraising staff.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Education (Biological), Zoology, Botany, Veterinary Medicine, Conservation Biology, Wildlife Health and Management, Environmental Sciences or Environmental Management from a recognized University
Master’s Degree in the above fields from a recognized University
Experience
At least twelve (12) years of relevant working experience, three (3) years of which are at Manager level in related field from a reputable organization.
