Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the organization's interests and minimize legal risks. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Legal Advice: Provide legal advice and guidance to senior management and other departments on a wide range of legal issues relevant to the organization's operations. This may include contract law, employment law, intellectual property law, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters.
Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the organization's interests and minimize legal risks. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research to analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and legal precedents relevant to specific legal issues or matters. Provide legal opinions and recommendations based on research findings.
Litigation Management: Manage or oversee litigation matters involving the organization, including lawsuits, claims, and disputes. Work with external legal counsel, if necessary, to develop legal strategies, prepare pleadings, and represent the organization in court proceedings or alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the organization's industry and operations. Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters, including board governance, corporate structure, and compliance with corporate governance principles and best practices.
Risk Management: Identify legal risks and liabilities facing the organization and develop strategies to mitigate such risks. Provide guidance on risk management practices and policies to protect the organization's interests.
Policy Development and Review: Assist in the development, review, and implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
Training and Education: Provide legal training and education to employees and management on legal issues relevant to their roles and responsibilities. Promote awareness of legal risks and compliance obligations throughout the organization.
Contract Administration: Oversee the administration of contracts and legal agreements throughout their lifecycle, including monitoring performance, enforcing contractual obligations, and resolving disputes.
External Relationships: Manage relationships with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Coordinate legal representation and advocacy on behalf of the organization as needed.
Confidentiality and Ethics: Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive information and legal matters. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical obligations, including attorney-client privilege and professional conduct rules.

Education: A law degree (LLB or JD) from an accredited law school is typically required. Admission to the bar association in the relevant jurisdiction is also necessary.
Experience: Typically, 5+ years of legal experience, including experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, or government agency, is required. Experience in areas relevant to the organization's operations, such as corporate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, or litigation, is preferred.
Legal Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in relevant areas of law, such as contract law, commercial law, employment law, intellectual property law, regulatory compliance, or litigation. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and legal requirements is advantageous.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifying legal issues, conducting legal research, and developing effective legal strategies and solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effectively conveying complex legal concepts, providing legal advice, and drafting legal documents.
Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and persuasion skills are important for negotiating contracts, settlements, and other legal agreements on behalf of the organization.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is critical for drafting legal documents, reviewing contracts, and identifying potential legal risks or liabilities.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to think strategically and proactively anticipate legal issues and risks facing the organization. The Senior Legal Officer should be able to provide proactive legal advice and guidance to support the organization's goals and objectives.
Ethical Conduct: High ethical standards and integrity are essential for maintaining trust and credibility as a legal advisor. The Senior Legal Officer must adhere to professional ethics rules and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive legal matters.

The Senior Legal Officer should be able to build effective working relationships and collaborate across departments to address legal issues and challenges.
