The duties of a Senior Lecturer in Education typically encompass a range of responsibilities related to teaching, research, administration, and community engagement
Teaching and Learning
Course Design and Delivery:
Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses in education.
Prepare and update course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, and reading lists.
Use a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning.
Student Assessment:
Design and grade assessments, including exams, essays, projects, and presentations.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
Ensure assessments are fair, transparent, and aligned with learning outcomes.
Student Support and Advising:
Offer academic advising and support to students, helping them with course selection, career planning, and academic challenges.
Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
Research and Scholarship
Research Activities:
Conduct high-quality research in the field of education, contributing to the body of knowledge in the discipline.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings.
Grant Applications:
Apply for research funding from external agencies and internal sources.
Manage research projects, including budgets and timelines.
Collaboration and Networking:
Collaborate with colleagues within and outside the institution on research projects.
Participate in academic conferences, seminars, and workshops to present research and engage with the academic community.
Administrative and Leadership Roles
Curriculum Development:
Participate in the development and review of the education curriculum to ensure it remains current and relevant.
Lead or contribute to curriculum committees and working groups.
Departmental Administration:
Take on leadership roles within the department, such as program coordinator or head of a specific academic area.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with institutional and external quality assurance standards and accreditation requirements.
Engage in continuous improvement processes for teaching and learning.
Community Engagement and Professional Service
Outreach and Partnerships:
Engage with local schools, educational organizations, and communities to promote educational initiatives and collaborations.
Develop partnerships that enhance the impact of the institution’s education programs.
Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of education through continuous professional development.
Share expertise with the broader community through workshops, seminars, and public lectures.
Service to the Profession:
Serve on editorial boards, review panels, and professional associations in the field of education.
Mentor junior faculty members and contribute to their professional development.

PhD in a relevant area from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
A Master’s Degree in Education majoring in Education Psychology from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
An Honors Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
Three (3) years of University teaching experience or relevant working experience in a reputable Organization or Industry.
Four (4) recognized publications in the area of specialization, two (2) of which as the First/ Corresponding/ Senior author.
Evidence of contribution to Community
Age Limit: Should not have reached fifty (50) years of age by deadline for submission of application.
