Job Description
This position supports the Manager, Risk, Planning, and Investments by providing financial and economic insights and tools required for strategic decisions within the minerals sector. The Analyst will develop financial models, monitor macroeconomic trends, evaluate risks, and assess investment viability. The role includes forecasting government revenue from projects, supporting negotiations and contracts with industry players, and facilitating the integration of mining operations with broader economic development objectives. The role also contributes to departmental planning, budgeting, reporting, and collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in the development of departmental work plans, budgets, and procurement plans
Monitor the risk management framework and identify economic and financial risks
Develop financial and economic models for sector investments and maintain relevant databases
Advise on economic viability and submit annual financial/economic reports on mining projects
Evaluate economic assets to guide licensing and optimize production processes
Analyze macroeconomic risks and report their potential impact on mining projects
Provide inputs for agreements, negotiations, and regulatory bodies regarding industry taxation
Offer economic recommendations on mining legislation and policy development
Forecast government revenue (“take”) from mineral sector projects
Promote sectoral linkages between mining and other industries to drive sustainable development
Carry out additional assignments as directed

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
An Honours Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Commerce, or a related field
A Master’s Degree in any of the above disciplines
Experience:
At least six (6) years of relevant professional experience in a natural resources, public, or private institution
Demonstrated experience in commercial and economic analysis, particularly in contracts and resource-based sectors
Core Competencies:
Strong financial analysis and economic modeling skills
Proficiency in interpreting economic and financial data
Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
High level of personal integrity and professional conduct
Age Requirement:
30 to 45 years
