Job Description
Reporting to the Manager Engineering (Civil), the Senior Engineering Officer (Civil) will play a leading role in the conceptualization, planning, implementation, and oversight of civil works related to infrastructure and mining operations. This includes coordinating construction activities, monitoring budgets and project timelines, enforcing quality control standards, maintaining technical documentation, and liaising with stakeholders. The role also demands the identification and mitigation of project risks, and the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies to ensure efficient and sustainable construction outcomes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in project planning and conceptualization including site assessments and feasibility studies
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
Implement quality control and assurance measures to meet engineering specifications
Coordinate construction activities such as earthwork, foundations, structural works, and infrastructure installation
Monitor project expenditures and apply cost-control strategies
Identify risks associated with construction projects and devise mitigation plans
Maintain detailed project documentation including drawings, reports, and correspondence
Ensure compliance with engineering, environmental, and safety regulations
Resolve engineering and construction challenges using industry best practices and emerging technologies
Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders
Prepare and review design details, cost estimates, and engineering plans/specifications
Perform any other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from a recognized university
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
At least six (6) years of professional experience as a Civil Engineer, with four (4) years at a senior level in a public or private organization
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design, and construction management
Proven experience in applying engineering theories to solve practical field and office challenges
Excellent communication, budgeting, and project management skills
Familiarity with environmental and safety standards in construction
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
