Job Description
Reporting to the Manager Sustainability, the Senior Community Liaison Officer will support the planning and implementation of community engagement strategies. The officer will monitor and report on the execution of Social Management Plans (SMPs), including Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) and Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRPs). The role involves building trustful relationships with community stakeholders, monitoring contractor compliance with social clauses, identifying emerging community-related risks, and ensuring continuous feedback mechanisms. The Officer will promote awareness and understanding of project activities, ensure effective communication with vulnerable groups, and manage community grievances in a timely and effective manner.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure effective stakeholder engagement to build trust with communities, local leaders, and NGOs
Support implementation of Social Management Plans (SMPs), including RAPs and LRPs
Monitor SMP implementation by project teams and contractors using defined KPIs
Identify and report unanticipated social impacts and risks to company image and assets
Monitor contractor compliance with social clauses and community relations
Promote awareness of operational activities and their implications to communities
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on social performance, identifying risks and tracking commitments
Monitor and report on compliance with UNMC’s Code of Conduct, Ethics Charter, and HSEQ Charter
Ensure inclusive communication strategies for all stakeholder groups, including vulnerable communities

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations, Languages and Linguistics, Law, or related field
Postgraduate Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Project Planning and Management, or a related discipline
Experience:
At least six (6) years of experience in a similar role, preferably in rural or mining communities
Proven experience working with local government institutions and strong community liaison skills
Key Competencies:
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
Deep understanding of community conservation, development, and livelihoods
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
Ability to maintain effective stakeholder relationships in diverse, multicultural settings
Proficiency in supporting consultation processes and data analysis
Capacity to solve low- to medium-level community issues, escalating when necessary
Age Requirement:30 to 45 years
