Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

Job Description

Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.


The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC now invites applications from persons interested to develop their career with a dynamic and results-oriented Company to occupy the following position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Business Process Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of business processes, workflows, and systems to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.

  • Map current processes and design future state processes to enhance efficiency.


Requirements Gathering:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including executives, managers, and end-users, to gather and document business requirements.

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and surveys to elicit detailed requirements.


Solution Design and Evaluation:

  • Develop and evaluate business solutions that meet the identified requirements.

  • Assess the feasibility, cost, and benefits of proposed solutions and make recommendations.


Project Management Support:

  • Assist in the planning and management of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Create project plans, timelines, and budgets, and track progress against them.

Stakeholder Communication and Management:

  • Serve as a liaison between business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of business needs and solutions.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their needs are addressed.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze data to support decision-making and identify trends, patterns, and insights.

  • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and stakeholders.


Quality Assurance and Testing:

  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.

  • Identify and resolve defects or issues through testing and user feedback.


Change Management:

  • Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems.

  • Provide training and support to users to facilitate the transition to new solutions.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to drive innovation.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, computer science, or a related field.

  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional) are advantageous.


Experience:

  • Several years of experience in business analysis or a related field.

  • Proven experience in leading and managing complex projects and initiatives.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques (e.g., SWOT analysis, PEST analysis, BPMN).

  • Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel) and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).


Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to develop innovative solutions to business challenges.


Communication Skills:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to various audiences.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage conflicts and negotiate solutions.


Organizational Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Attention to Detail:

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

  • Ability to identify and correct errors in processes and documentation.


Project Management Skills:

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects.

  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana).


Adaptability and Flexibility:

  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
