Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment and devices to ensure they function reliably and meet regulatory standards.
Technology Assessment: Evaluate new medical technologies, equipment, and devices to determine their suitability for use in healthcare settings, considering factors such as safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance protocols and procedures for medical equipment, including testing, inspection, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with medical equipment, including hazards to patient safety, regulatory compliance issues, and potential financial liabilities.
Research and Development: Participate in research and development projects aimed at advancing medical technology, improving patient care, and addressing unmet clinical needs.
Training and Education: Provide training and education to healthcare staff on the proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medical equipment and devices.
Project Management: Lead or participate in projects related to the acquisition, installation, and implementation of medical equipment, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing medical devices and equipment, such as those set forth by the FDA, ISO, and other regulatory bodies.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, engineers, technicians, and vendors to optimize medical equipment performance and support patient care.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related field. Some positions may require a master's degree or higher qualification.
Experience: Several years of experience in biomedical engineering, with progressive responsibility and demonstrated expertise in medical equipment maintenance, repair, and management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of medical equipment and devices, including diagnostic imaging systems, patient monitors, infusion pumps, and surgical instruments.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to medical devices, such as FDA regulations, ISO standards, and medical equipment safety guidelines.
Project Management: Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, technical staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and mentor junior engineers, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and influence decision-making processes.
Certification: Some employers may prefer or require certification from organizations such as the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) or the International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology (ICC).

• Health Workers who are on long-term training (one year and above) must not apply.
