Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting and accounting, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies, safeguarding financial records, and guiding financial strategy. This role plays a key part in financial monitoring, reconciliations, reporting, and maintaining financial discipline to support the mission and objectives of UNMC.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and submit regular and timely financial reports on the company’s revenue and expenditure.
Ensure the safe custody and security of financial records and backup of accounting software data.
Supervise periodic reconciliations of ledgers, cashbooks, and bank account statements.
Monitor expenditures against the budget and ensure compliance.
Track revenue performance across all revenue centers and provide regular reports.
Coordinate and monitor accountabilities for operational funds and advances disbursed to staff.
Reconcile and report on Accounts Receivables (Debtors) and Accounts Payables (Creditors).
Review all payment vouchers for completeness and ensure proper documentation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper record keeping.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CFA, or CA are an added advantage.
At least six (6) years of professional experience in accounting, with three (3) years in public sector accounting or a reputable organization.
A postgraduate qualification in Financial Management is an added advantage.
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications.
Strong integrity, professionalism, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills.
