The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) in Uganda is a statutory body established to oversee the regulation, supervision, and control of lotteries, gaming, and betting activities within the country. The NLGRB ensures that these activities are conducted in a fair, transparent, and responsible manner, safeguarding the interests of both the participants and the general public.
The NLGRB plays a significant role in balancing the benefits of the gaming industry with the need to protect vulnerable populations. By regulating and supervising gaming activities, the Board helps mitigate the risks associated with gambling, such as addiction and financial harm. Additionally, the revenues generated from regulated gaming contribute to national development projects, thereby benefiting the broader community.

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board ("The Board") was established in 2016 under the Lotteries and Gaming Act 2016 with a mandate to supervise and regulate the establishment, management and operations of the lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos in Uganda, and to protect the citizens from the adverse effects of gaming and betting in Uganda.
Our Vision is "A technologically driven and revenue generating gaming sector free from adverse effects" The Board invites Online applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill vacant position that exists within the Board's structure as listed below,
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Generate periodic financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and closing activities.
Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and categorized.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor and report on budget variances, providing insights and recommendations for adjustments.
Audit Coordination:
Coordinate internal and external audit activities, including preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Implement audit recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.
Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and internal policies.
Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and standards, advising management on necessary adjustments.
Tax Planning and Compliance:
Oversee tax planning and compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
Ensure timely and accurate tax payments and reporting.
Account Reconciliation:
Perform and review reconciliations of key accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
Maintain accurate and organized records of all reconciliations.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost-benefit analysis, trend analysis, and financial performance evaluation.
Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis to improve financial performance.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and controls.
Implement best practices and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
Mentoring and Training:
Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and professional development.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the accounting team.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Accounting or Finance) or certifications (e.g., Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA)) are highly preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience as an accountant, with several years in a senior or supervisory role.
Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and audit coordination.
Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Personal Attributes:
High ethical standards and integrity.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools.
Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Optional Skills
Industry Knowledge:
Knowledge of the specific industry in which the organization operates, including relevant financial regulations and standards.
Familiarity with industry-specific accounting challenges and best practices.
Project Management:
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with various departments.
Understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
Continuous Learning:
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with changes in the accounting field.
Participation in relevant professional organizations and obtaining additional certifications.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues, management, and external stakeholders.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with auditors, regulatory authorities, and other external parties.
