About the Organisation
Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.
Uganda National Oil Company - UNOC was incorporated as a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda in June 2015. Our overall function is to handle the Government of Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sub-sector and to ensure State participation in petroleum activities. The company is also mandated to investigate and propose new upstream, midstream, and downstream ventures initially locally and eventually internationally.

Job Description
DEPARTMENT: Operations
JOB TITLE: Security Officer (1 Vacancy)
REPORTS TO: Security Specialist
JOB PURPOSE: Supervise day-to-day security operations, liaising with contractor security personnel to ensure the safety and security of staff, company premises, and property.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Serve as the first point of contact for routine security matters and concerns across UNOC operations.
Guide external security service providers in implementing UNOC’s security procedures for offices, residential areas, and operational sites.
Oversee day-to-day liaison and supervision of the external security services contract.
Assist the Security Specialist in conducting security risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats to UNOC operations.
Support the implementation of access control procedures to safeguard company assets and information.
Investigate and resolve all security incident reports, preparing and submitting lessons learned.
Update evacuation plans in coordination with the Health and Safety Specialist.
Maintain security logs for all incidents and occurrences at UNOC offices, facilities, and operational areas.
Organize and deliver routine security briefings and training to external security service providers.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in any discipline from a recognized university.
Training in Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights is a plus.
Certification in Security Management from an internationally recognized security institution is advantageous.
Possession of relevant certification in health and safety is an added advantage.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in security (Private Security Company, Army, or Police).
Experience in security operations within the oil and gas, manufacturing, or construction industries is beneficial.
Experience in remote site operations is an added advantage.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Strong investigative and analytical skills.
Knowledge of contractor management practices.
Proficiency in conducting security risk assessments.
Security monitoring and reporting expertise.
Experience conducting security audits and investigations.
Security incident management capabilities.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Excellent stakeholder engagement abilities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
