Job Description
The Senior Security Officer will oversee security operations at UNMC facilities by performing regular patrols and monitoring of entrances and exits to ensure that no unauthorized access occurs. The officer will also be responsible for managing the entry points, verifying credentials, and maintaining accurate reports of incidents and security breaches. Additionally, the officer will enforce company safety and security policies, identify potential threats, operate surveillance equipment, and liaise with government security agencies. The role also requires collaboration with the security team to enhance safety measures across the company.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Regularly patrol premises and monitor all entrances and exits to ensure security.
Check identification, verify credentials, and manage entry points to prevent unauthorized access.
Maintain accurate incident reports, documenting any incidents, observations, and security breaches.
Enforce UNMC safety and security policies, rules, and regulations.
Identify suspicious behavior and respond to potential threats or security breaches.
Operate security equipment, such as surveillance cameras and metal detectors.
Liaise with government security agencies and provide security advice when necessary.
Collaborate with the security team to implement effective security measures.
Respond to emergencies, including fire drills, health and safety incidents, and security threats.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in any discipline from a recognized university.
Training in Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights is an added advantage.
Certification in Security Management by an internationally recognized security institution is a plus.
Possession of relevant health and safety certifications is an added advantage.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in security (Private Security Company, Army, or Police).
Experience in security operations in the mining sector or a busy manufacturing or construction setting is an advantage.
Experience in remote site operations is an added advantage.
Strong communication and observational skills.
Ability to handle security equipment and respond to threats efficiently
