Job Description
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns all the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks and all the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme Ltd. The company monitors Umeme Ltd and other Concessionaires in Uganda, is licensed by ERA to distribute electricity in 11 service territories covering over 93 rural and border districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda. The Company is seeking to recruit qualified, competent, and highly motivated Ugandans for the following role.
Duties and Responsibilities
System Design and Implementation:
Design and develop SCADA systems tailored to specific industrial needs.
Implement SCADA solutions, including configuring software, programming controllers, and integrating hardware components.
Monitoring and Control:
Oversee the real-time monitoring of industrial processes and systems.
Ensure SCADA systems provide accurate data and control capabilities for operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Diagnose and resolve issues related to SCADA systems, including software bugs, hardware failures, or communication problems.
Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure system reliability and security.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze data collected from SCADA systems to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
Generate reports and dashboards for stakeholders to aid in decision-making.
System Upgrades and Optimization:
Plan and execute system upgrades, including software patches and hardware replacements.
Optimize system performance to enhance functionality and efficiency.

Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degrees or certifications may be beneficial but are not always required.
Experience:
Relevant experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems.
Experience with industrial control systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) is often required.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, Siemens, GE).
Knowledge of programming languages used in SCADA environments (e.g., SQL, Python, C/C++).
Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, DNP3).
