Job Description

Job Title:  Radiographer (Fresher Jobs)

Organisation: LifeLink Medical Group

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda


The Radiographer is responsible for operating medical imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role involves patient preparation, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

  1. Diagnostic Imaging

    • Perform imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasounds based on physicians’ instructions.

    • Ensure the correct positioning of patients to capture clear and accurate images.

    • Assess images for quality and ensure they meet diagnostic requirements.

  2. Patient Care

    • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.

    • Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort.

    • Maintain confidentiality and empathy when handling sensitive patient information.

  3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance

    • Operate and adjust imaging equipment according to established protocols.

    • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure equipment is in good working condition.

    • Report malfunctions or issues with equipment to the appropriate personnel.

  4. Radiation Safety and Compliance

    • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.

    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

    • Maintain accurate records of radiation doses and imaging procedures.

  5. Collaboration and Reporting

    • Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to discuss imaging results and patient care.

    • Prepare and submit imaging reports to relevant departments.

    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings when required.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Radiography or Medical Imaging.

  • Valid license or registration with the [National Radiography Board or equivalent body].

  • Certification in advanced imaging techniques (e.g., CT, MRI) is an added advantage.


Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in operating various imaging equipment.

  • Strong understanding of human anatomy and medical imaging techniques.

  • Attention to detail with the ability to assess and ensure image quality.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.


Work Environment

  • Hospital, diagnostic imaging centers, or healthcare facility.

  • Exposure to radiation, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.

  • May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting of patients or equipment.


Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of medical imaging advancements and technologies.
