Job Title: Quality Control Officer

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards. This role involves inspecting and testing materials, identifying areas for improvement, and maintaining accurate records of quality results. The Quality Control Officer works closely with production teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer expectations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Quality Inspection and Testing
Conduct inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Perform tests on products and materials using approved methods and equipment.
Document test results and report any deviations or quality issues to relevant departments.
Process Monitoring and Improvement
Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and areas for improvement.
Work with production teams to implement corrective actions and quality improvements.
Conduct regular audits of processes and quality control systems to maintain high standards.
Compliance and Standards Adherence
Ensure products meet industry regulations and company quality standards.
Review and update quality control procedures as needed to comply with new regulations and industry best practices.
Assist in preparing for and participating in external audits or inspections.
Data Collection and Analysis
Collect and analyze data from inspections, tests, and other quality control activities.
Identify trends in quality data and suggest preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
Prepare and maintain quality reports, documenting findings, actions, and results.
Training and Support
Train production staff on quality control processes and proper handling techniques to ensure consistent quality.
Support teams by providing feedback on quality issues and offering solutions.
Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality control checks, test results, and inspections.
Prepare detailed reports for management on quality issues, findings, and corrective actions.
Document all non-compliance issues and coordinate corrective action plans.
Health and Safety Compliance
Ensure that quality control procedures align with health and safety standards.
Identify and address any safety risks in the quality control process.
Train staff on safety protocols related to quality control operations.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
He or she should have a bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition or a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from a Recognised Institution.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in quality control or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Knowledge of quality control procedures, standards, and industry regulations.
Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and software for data collection and reporting.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment:
The role involves a combination of office work for data analysis and reporting, as well as time on the production floor to conduct inspections and tests. May require standing for extended periods and adhering to safety protocols in production areas.
Performance Metrics:
Reduction in product defects and non-compliance issues.
Achievement of quality goals and improvement targets.
Effectiveness in identifying and implementing corrective actions.
Timely and accurate reporting of quality control data.
