Project Management
Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Implementation: Oversee the implementation of project activities, ensuring they align with the project plan and objectives.
Monitoring: Regularly monitor project progress, track milestones, and adjust plans as needed to stay on schedule and within budget.
Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive progress reports, impact assessments, and financial reports to stakeholders and donors.
Market Systems Development
Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analyses to identify opportunities and constraints within the market system.
Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategies to enhance market linkages, improve market access, and promote competitiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key market actors, including producers, traders, processors, and service providers, to foster collaboration and partnerships.
Value Chain Strengthening: Identify and address gaps in the value chain to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Capacity Building
Training: Design and deliver training programs to build the capacities of market actors, including MSMEs, cooperatives, and other stakeholders.
Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and mentorship to project partners and beneficiaries to enhance their market participation.
Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning among project stakeholders through workshops, seminars, and other platforms.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)
MEAL Integration: Integrate MEAL practices into project planning and implementation to track progress, measure impact, and ensure accountability.
Data Collection: Develop and implement data collection tools and methodologies to gather relevant market data.
Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of project interventions.
Learning: Capture and disseminate lessons learned to inform future project design and implementation.
Financial Management
Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with donor requirements.
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports and ensure timely submission to donors and stakeholders.
Fundraising: Identify funding opportunities and assist in the development of proposals to secure additional project funding.
Risk Management
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Problem Solving: Address project challenges and obstacles promptly and effectively, ensuring project objectives are met.

Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
Advanced Degree (Preferred): A master’s degree or higher in a related field can be advantageous.
Professional Experience
Relevant Experience: At least 5-7 years of professional experience in market systems development, value chain development, or economic development projects.
Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Sector Experience: Experience working in specific sectors relevant to market systems development, such as agriculture, manufacturing, or services.
Technical Skills and Competencies
Market Analysis: Strong understanding of market analysis techniques, value chain analysis, and market systems development approaches.
Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, including logical frameworks, theory of change, and results-based management.
Capacity Building: Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building programs for market actors.
Financial Management: Competence in budgeting, financial reporting, and managing project finances.
Soft Skills and Personal Attributes
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to various audiences.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize data.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including project staff, beneficiaries, and partners.
Leadership: Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs and work in a dynamic environment.
Technical Proficiency
Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
Data Analysis Tools: Familiarity with data analysis tools and software, such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
