Job Description
The Project Forest Officer will be responsible for planning and executing project activities, building capacity within communities, supporting landscape restoration efforts, and promoting nature-based enterprises. The officer will collaborate with civil society organizations and community groups to implement agreed work plans. Key responsibilities include technical support in afforestation, conducting awareness campaigns, and overseeing monitoring and evaluation activities. The officer will ensure that activities align with WWF’s guidelines and project objectives and will document lessons learned and best practices.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and implement detailed activity work plans and budgets.
Coordinate training and capacity-building sessions for community groups.
Collaborate with CSOs and community groups to ensure effective delivery of planned activities.
Provide technical assistance in forest restoration, afforestation, and nature-based enterprise development.
Conduct advocacy and awareness sessions with partners and communities.
Implement and monitor the project's evaluation plan.
Document best practices, lessons learned, and prepare monthly activity reports.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environment, Natural Resources, or Agriculture.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in forestry, environmental, or natural resource sectors.
Strong knowledge of the Bugoma-Kagombe landscape.
Experience in community-based project implementation and landscape restoration.
Understanding of forest landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and carbon market processes.
Skills in civil society capacity development, communication, and advocacy.
Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Fluency in English and Runyakitara.
