Job Description

The Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the AGILE project, aimed at creating employment opportunities for women and youth, especially in the horticulture and coffee value chains in Kyegegwa and Kikuube districts. The role involves working with multiple stakeholders, including local authorities, financial institutions, community groups, and partners such as PSFU and ThinkIT. The PC will ensure that all project activities are planned, executed, monitored, and reported effectively. Responsibilities include partner support, training, quality assurance, monitoring, and reporting, while also facilitating learning and adaptation to project challenges.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner Support & Training: Work closely with project partners to ensure their active engagement and capacity building for project success.

  • Quality Assurance & Monitoring: Ensure that all project activities adhere to quality standards and that monitoring processes are in place.

  • Learning, Adaptation & Reporting: Ensure that lessons learned are incorporated into the project, with effective documentation and timely reporting to stakeholders.

  • Coordination & Implementation: Oversee project activities, ensuring smooth implementation across multiple stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with local authorities, financial institutions, and community groups to facilitate project success.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Business Management, Education, or a related field.

  • A master’s degree in any of the above fields is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination or management in livelihoods, agribusiness, vocational training, or youth employment.

  • Proven experience working with refugees, youth, and women in rural or semi-rural settings.

  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, especially coffee and horticulture.

  • Familiarity with VSLAs, cooperative development, and financial inclusion programming.

  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder partnerships and engaging with government and private sector actors.

Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse teams and communities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
