Job Title: Programs and Communication Officer (Fresher Jobs)
Organisation: Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Uganda
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Programs Director
The Programs and Communication Officer will play a key role in research and proposal writing, and developing communication strategies that effectively showcase the impact of our work. The officer will be responsible for documenting success stories, writing donor reports, and creating content to enhance visibility through different communication channels. Additionally, the officer will take the lead in planning, executing, and managing advocacy campaigns that drive awareness and engagement around key programmatic themes.
We seek a Programs and Communication Officer who is passionate about community transformation and has the skills to amplify our impact through compelling communication and program support.

Program Development and Implementation
Conduct research to support program design and proposal development.
Assist in writing grant proposals, concept notes, and donor reports.
Support program monitoring and evaluation by collecting and analyzing data.
Communications and Advocacy
Develop and implement a communication strategy to enhance visibility and public engagement.
Document and share program impact stories, testimonials, and case studies from the field.
Create engaging content for newsletters, social media, and organizational reports.
Maintain a digital library of photos, videos, and reports for donor engagement and public outreach.
Coordinate with media houses and stakeholders to promote key messages on education, health, and community development.
Lead on Campaigns and Public Awareness
Design and execute targeted advocacy campaigns to amplify key program messages.
Develop campaign materials, including posters, social media content, videos, and reports.
Work with grassroots communities and stakeholders to mobilize participation in campaigns.
Engage influencers, media, and policymakers to advocate for positive policy change.
Monitor and evaluate campaign impact and effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
Liaise with partners, and government agencies to foster strong relationships.
Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and media engagements.
Develop and manage relationships with community beneficiaries and program stakeholders.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in program development, communication, or a similar role in the NGO sector.
Proven experience in grant writing, proposal development, and fundraising.
Strong research, writing, and storytelling skills.
Experience in content creation for websites, newsletters, and social media.
Experience in designing and executing campaigns and advocacy initiatives.
Desirable Skills and Competencies:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local Ugandan languages.
Knowledge of digital media, photography, and video storytelling.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
Passion for social impact and advocacy on issues affecting adolescents, women, and vulnerable communities.
