Job Description
The role involves operating and controlling the packaging process, ensuring product quality, conducting maintenance and quality control checks, and reporting process inefficiencies. The position also requires maintaining workplace safety, problem-solving, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operating and Process Control
Operate sub-processes of the packaging plant following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and ensure raw materials meet quality standards.
Prepare the plant for start-up, ensuring all inputs and utilities are available.
Conduct plant shutdowns according to SOPs and record deviations.
Carry out cleaning, sampling, and stock control procedures.
Ensure scheduled maintenance plans are followed and assist with breakdown resolution.
Track process performance, record short stops, and implement corrective actions.
Maintenance of Plant and Equipment
Perform in-depth cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of equipment.
Execute autonomous maintenance tasks and request artisan assistance when required.
Identify and report maintenance problems.
Assist Packaging Artisans with running repairs.
Maintain accurate documentation, including job cards and maintenance records.
Quality Control and Analysis
Conduct quality checks and analyses per SOPs.
Identify and resolve quality issues using problem-solving techniques.
Train and mentor team members on quality procedures.
Communication
Participate in shift meetings and provide feedback.
Record and communicate issues, problems, and improvement opportunities.
Complete proper shift handovers.
Problem-Solving
Apply problem-solving techniques (e.g., Quick Fix Routines, 5 Why, etc.).
Escalate unresolved problems to the team leader.
Verify that resolved issues have been eliminated.
Continuous Improvement
Utilize Short Interval Control charts to monitor trends and identify waste.
Participate in process optimization initiatives.
Support and develop team members in line with the Global Competence Framework.

Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
At least two (2) years of experience in an FMCG industry.
