Job Description
Job Title: Principal Accountant
Organisation: Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Identifying and developing internal controls to administer the generation, collection of all revenues due to UWA in accordance with the financial procedures.
Preparing and disseminating guidelines for revenue collection.
Banking of all revenue in accordance with financial regulations and ensuring that all payment platforms are secure and properly utilised.
Liaise with all revenue generating departments on all matters regarding revenue of the Authority.
Identifying potential investments that can spur revenue growth for the Authority.
Reviewing and approving revenue forecasts and monitoring revenue collection at the different collection centres.
Reviewing returns from collection points to ensure proper recording and accounting for the Authority revenue.
Reviewing and approving demand notes for issuance to customers with outstanding balances.
Handling customers’ complaints, clarifications related to billings, statements and receipts.
Reviewing schedules for interbank transfers for posting the same in the system.
Reviewing the unearned revenue schedule and prepayments ledgers.
Handling all audit queries from internal and external auditors.
Supervising and appraising staff.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Finance and Accounting, Commerce (Accounting) or Business Administration (Accounting) from a recognized University.
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) or Finance and Accounting from a recognized University.
Full Professional accounting qualifications with membership to CPA or ACCA Or
Full professional accounting qualification with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) from a recognized University.
Experience
At least six (06) years relevant experience, three (3) of which should have been as Senior Accountant from a reputable Organization.
