Job Description
Job Title: PR & Communications Officer - East Africa
Organisation: Lapaire
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Salary: 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 UGX
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and results-driven Press Relations and Communications Officer to develop and execute Lapaire’s communication strategy in East Africa. This role plays a crucial part in building and maintaining Lapaire’s brand presence, managing press relationships, and creating compelling narratives that resonate with our target audience.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media houses across East Africa
Create and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
Organize and manage press conferences, interviews, and other media events.
Monitor media coverage and manage the company’s response to press inquiries.
Build and execute a Communication strategy in line with Lapaire’s brand voice and image
Develop and execute a regional communication strategy aligned with Lapaire’s mission and goals.
Create engaging content for press releases, blogs, social media, and internal communications.
Collaborate with the digital marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging and brand image across all channels and communications.
Manage crisis communication to mitigate risks and protect the company’s reputation.
Engage with key stakeholders to successfully execute your campaigns
Work closely with internal teams, including Marketing, Operations, and Leadership, to align communication efforts with business objectives.
Build partnerships with influencers, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance Lapaire’s visibility and impact.
Provide your management with detailed reporting and analysis
Track and analyze the performance of communication campaigns.
Provide regular reports to the Head of HR & Communications with insights and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a similar role.
Proven experience working with media houses and managing press relationships in East Africa.
Strong understanding of the East African media landscape.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in English and Swahili (French is a plus).
Proficiency in Google Suite and familiarity with digital tools in general.

What we offer
Salary package composed of a base salary (gross) of 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 UGX depending on background and experience and a monthly performance bonus
