Job Overview:
AFSA is seeking a Participatory Action Research (PAR) Officer to coordinate agroecology research projects across multiple countries. This role aims to bolster AFSA’s evidence-based advocacy efforts for better policy development by overseeing the PAR process, promoting best practices, and facilitating the conversion of research findings into impactful programs and policies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee agroecology PAR projects, ensuring methodological accuracy and alignment with AFSA's mission and theory of change.
Provide training to AFSA project partners on the PAR process and various research methods.
Conduct policy analysis, document case studies, synthesize PAR reports, and perform meta-analyses.
Publish journal articles, policy briefs, research reports, position papers, and other relevant materials on AFSA’s website and other platforms.
Advise AFSA on converting PAR findings into actionable programs and policy recommendations.
Manage a repository of knowledge products derived from PAR projects.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
MSc in Agriculture, Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Strong understanding of agroecology, sustainable agriculture, and participatory action research (PAR) methodology.
Recent publications in agroecology, food sovereignty, or sustainable agriculture.
Extensive experience in research design, data analysis, and reporting within participatory research and agroecology.
Proficient in online collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams, and Google Docs, with strong facilitation and communication skills.
Experience in training and capacity building.
Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.
Additional Details:
Employment Duration: 1-year contract, with potential renewal based on funding.
Work Environment: Remote/virtual, part-time with occasional international travel.
Work Hours: 8 hours per day.
Required Experience: 4-5 years in a related field.
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree (minimum).
