Job Description
The Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon will autonomously manage orthopaedic and trauma surgical procedures and outpatients. The surgeon will collaborate closely with general surgeons and other healthcare staff (nurses, physiotherapists) in patient care and training of local health workers. Work involves activities in operating theatres, emergency departments, and hospital wards, while ensuring proper clinical documentation and adherence to EMERGENCY’s standards and protocols. Surgeons are on-call 24/7 for emergencies and mass casualties and must supervise supplies management, clinical research, and capacity building of local personnel.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Evaluate orthopaedic patients and determine treatment options
Perform orthopaedic trauma surgeries and supervise outpatient clinics
Collaborate with general surgeons in polytrauma cases
Train and mentor local medical and physiotherapy staff
Monitor and manage orthopaedic surgical supplies
Participate in clinical research and accurate clinical record-keeping
Ensure adherence to hospital admission criteria, protocols, and standards
Engage in emergency interventions, including mass casualties
Supervise and collaborate with national and international healthcare staff

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Medical Degree with active professional registration in the country of residence
Specialization in Orthopaedics and Trauma
At least 5 years of relevant hospital experience in orthopaedics/trauma surgery
Experience in hospital trauma departments is an advantage
Strong team collaboration and training abilities
Ability to work in resource-limited and emergency contexts
Willingness to stay overseas for 6 months
Documentation required:
Surgical case history (signed by Hospital/Institute Management)
Certificates of hospital positions held from career start to current date
