Job Description

VVOB is an international NGO with Programmes and projects in 10 countries worldwide. Our head office is based in Brussels, Belgium. We are looking for qualified people to take up the roles of Education Advisor, MEAL Advisor, District Support Coordinator, Accountant, Finance Officer and Operations officer who will operate from our country office in Kampala Uganda, with frequent travel to other locations as the programme may require. The Education Advisor will provide advice to and capacity development of our education partners.

Job description:
The Operations Officer will take initiative whenever necessary to provide quality financial, administrative und logistical support to the VVOB projects and team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Oversight:

  • Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.

  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed.

  • Supervise the work of staff involved in various operations.


Process Improvement:

  • Identify inefficiencies in operational processes.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness.

  • Streamline workflows to enhance overall performance.


Budget and Resource Management:

  • Manage resources such as workforce, materials, and equipment to optimize usage.

  • Work with finance teams to ensure operations stay within budget.

  • Ensure that all departments have the resources they need to function effectively.


Coordination and Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between departments to ensure smooth interdepartmental coordination.

  • Communicate operational objectives and expectations to the relevant teams.

  • Facilitate collaboration between different teams to achieve business goals.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (MBA or higher is often preferred in larger organizations).


Experience:

  • Proven experience in operations management or a related role (usually 3–7 years).

  • Experience in the relevant industry is often preferred.


Skills:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using business management software (ERP systems, CRM tools, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation.

  • Competency in data analytics tools to track operational performance.
