Job Description
The Office Driver will be responsible for the daily transport needs of RELON, including scheduled staff movements, material deliveries, and stakeholder engagements. The successful candidate must possess a valid Ugandan driver’s license, a strong understanding of road safety regulations, and a clean driving record. Additionally, the driver will be tasked with regular vehicle maintenance, ensuring roadworthiness, and supporting basic logistical functions when needed.
The driver will also be required to maintain effective communication with the administrative and logistics team, keep detailed vehicle logs, and ensure the timely and secure movement of persons and goods related to project activities. The role demands professionalism, punctuality, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Transport RELON staff, stakeholders, and materials safely to designated locations.
Plan efficient travel routes and ensure timely arrivals.
Conduct routine vehicle checks and maintenance (e.g., fluid levels, brakes, tire pressure).
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene.
Keep logs for mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance.
Adhere to Ugandan traffic laws and safety regulations.
Stay updated on traffic changes and road conditions.
Assist in loading/unloading of materials and event setups when necessary.
Coordinate with the logistics team to meet project transport needs.
Maintain open communication with the office regarding schedules and any delays.
Report all incidents or malfunctions promptly.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of 5 years professional driving experience within Uganda.
Experience in nonprofit or humanitarian sector is an advantage.
Valid Ugandan driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Proficient in Uganda’s traffic laws and local road conditions.
Excellent navigational skills; GPS and map reading.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
Physically fit and reliable.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Willingness to work evenings/weekends based on project needs.
