Job Description
The Network & Security Engineer will be responsible for aligning network strategies with business goals, designing and managing network infrastructure (including routers, switches, LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, and routing protocols like BGP), and ensuring high availability of network systems. The engineer will also oversee security configurations, conduct vulnerability assessments, and manage compliance with cybersecurity regulations. They will provide tiered support for network-related issues, collaborate across teams to implement secure network solutions, and maintain up-to-date documentation and reporting. This position reports to the Manager, Network & Security.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure & Performance Management
Develop and implement network strategies.
Design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure.
Ensure network redundancy and high availability.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance.
Conduct routine maintenance of network devices.
Security & Compliance
Configure and manage network security devices.
Implement security protocols and conduct assessments.
Manage vulnerability detection and incident prevention.
Ensure adherence to cybersecurity frameworks and regulations.
Support & Troubleshooting
Provide first to third-level support for network-related issues.
Address network downtime and resolve technical incidents.
Collaborate with internal IT and development teams on secure implementations.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation on network systems and security policies.
Provide reports on network performance and security.
Research and present emerging technologies.
Project Support & Vendor Management
Support delivery of network-related projects.
Configure site-to-site IPsec VPNs.
Manage relationships with vendors and service providers.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CEH, or equivalent are an added advantage.
ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years in network engineering and security management.
Hands-on experience with firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs.
Strong understanding of network security principles and performance optimization.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of network architecture and security frameworks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
High attention to detail in configuration and monitoring.
