Job Description
The Maths Teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering quality lessons in Mathematics that meet the needs of learners in the FET Phase. The role includes assessing student progress, managing classroom resources, and participating in extra-curricular activities. The teacher will work closely with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the grade/phase and promote academic success. This is a dynamic role that requires a proactive, results-driven approach to teaching, as well as a commitment to the ethos and values of the school.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in Maths that meet curriculum standards
Control, record, and report on student assessments and progress
Foster a positive and productive classroom environment
Attend meetings, workshops, and forums as required for the grade/phase
Take responsibility for classroom equipment and resources
Collaborate with fellow teachers to ensure effective running of the grade/phase
Manage and promote discipline within the classroom and phase
Encourage student participation in school activities, including sports and culture
Assist with sports and other administrative duties as needed
Contribute to the overall ethos and values of the school
Provide guidance and support to students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A relevant academic and professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution
3 to 5 years of experience teaching Maths
Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE)
IEB experience is highly preferred
A clear criminal record
Strong classroom management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A passion for teaching and learning in the Maths discipline
