Job Description
Facilitate effective communication within the healthcare team, ensuring non-Mandarin-speaking colleagues understand the patient’s needs and conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration with Healthcare Teams:
Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (e.g., nurses, specialists, therapists) to provide comprehensive patient care.
Facilitate effective communication within the healthcare team, ensuring non-Mandarin-speaking colleagues understand the patient’s needs and conditions.
Refer patients to specialists and coordinate care when necessary, ensuring that referrals and specialist instructions are communicated in Mandarin when possible.
Patient Education:
Educate Mandarin-speaking patients on managing chronic conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension, in their native language.
Provide health education on disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and treatment adherence, ensuring patients fully understand medical advice.
Encourage patients to ask questions, fostering a comfortable environment for communication.
Emergency Care:
Provide emergency medical treatment to Mandarin-speaking patients, offering clear instructions and communication during high-stress situations.
Stabilize patients during emergencies and coordinate their transfer to specialized care, ensuring communication with both the patient and their family.

Qualifications and Competencies
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of residency in the chosen medical specialty (e.g., internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery).
Board certification in a specific medical field may be required, depending on the specialization.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid medical license to practice in the country or state of employment.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on the specialization.
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in Mandarin (both spoken and written), including medical terminology.
Proficiency in both Mandarin and the primary language of the region of practice (e.g., English).
Ability to translate complex medical terms and concepts into clear, simple Mandarin for patients and families.
