Job Description

Job Title:   Manager Wildlife Species Management

Organisation: Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Providing technical guidance in formulation of policies on species conservation.

  • Coordinating the formulation and implementation of species conservation strategies, guidelines and action plans.

  • Coordinating introductions and reintroductions of wildlife species as identified in the management and strategic plans.

  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative linkages to support recovery and growth of wildlife populations.

  • Providing technical guidance in the translocation of wildlife species during introduction / reintroductions to selected sites.

  • Coordinating research on species conservation.

  • Mobilizing resources to support species conservation programs.

  • Developing, coordinating implementation of work plans and preparing periodic reports.

  • Supervising and appraising staff.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Zoology, Botany, Wildlife Health and Management, Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management from a recognized University.

  • Master’s degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University.


Experience

  • At least nine (09) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at Principal Species Specialist from a reputable Organization.
