Job Description
Mail Handlers are responsible for sorting, processing, and distributing mail efficiently and accurately across Posta Uganda’s network. They ensure that all outgoing and incoming mail is handled according to postal standards and delivered promptly.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Mail Sorting and Processing
Sort incoming and outgoing mail according to postal codes, regions, and delivery schedules.
Operate mail sorting equipment and manual sorting when necessary.
Label and prepare mail for dispatch to delivery routes or other post offices.
Mail Delivery Assistance
Assist in preparing mail for local delivery routes and international dispatches.
Handle and secure valuable and sensitive mail items, including registered mail and parcels.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery to designated locations.
Customer Service
Assist customers in locating their mail or packages.
Respond to inquiries regarding postal rates, tracking, and delivery status.
Adherence to Postal Regulations
Follow postal guidelines, including security measures, to ensure the safe and efficient processing of mail.
Report any anomalies or damaged mail to supervisors.

Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
A minimum of a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).
Experience:
Experience in a similar role is an added advantage, but not required as training will be provided.
Key Skills and Competencies
Attention to detail and ability to work quickly and efficiently.
Good physical stamina for handling mailbags and parcels.
Basic customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
