Job Description
Machine Operator reporting to the Production Manager, is responsible for ensuring daily factory/ department operations are within the approved standards, overseeing cigarette manufacturing and maintaining supporting documents while assisting the Production Manager in his daily functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
Operate or monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
Ensuring the smooth and efficient running of machines
Carrying out routine maintenance
Ensuring enough raw materials are fed into the machines
Conducting periodic checks on output efficiency
Gaining a thorough knowledge of a wide range of factory machinery and how it works
Provide required support and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines to concerned personnel.
Provide relevant information regarding progress to supervisors
Learn, understand and follow company requirements for employee safety, product quality and productivity
Become aware of potential workplace hazards such as broken or malfunctioning machines and strive to ensure safety of self and others by reporting any hazards immediately
Learn and uphold company standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and optimize work efficiency. Strive to achieve company-specified production targets.
Keep workspace clean and organized to maximize safety and productivity. Offer suggestions for workspace improvement if needed.
Stay up to date on and closely observe assembly and maintenance instructions.
Adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production
Assist the shop technicians and materials clerk as necessary
Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Competencies
Currently pursuing or recently completed a high school diploma, GED, or a vocational course in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
Enrollment in a technical school or community college with a focus on industrial technology, mechanical engineering, or machinery operation is preferred.
Basic Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of basic mechanical principles and how machines function.
Familiarity with tools and equipment commonly used in a production environment.
Ability to learn the operation of specific machines under guidance.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Strong interest in working with machinery and equipment.
Ability to perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Capable of learning how to adjust, set up, and troubleshoot machines.
Safety Awareness:
Basic understanding of workplace safety and the importance of following safety protocols.
Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmets, and safety goggles.
Ability to follow instructions related to safety guidelines to minimize risks.
Attention to Detail:
Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate machine operation, proper handling of materials, and adherence to quality standards.
Ability to detect abnormalities or defects in machine operations or product output.
Physical Requirements:
Good physical stamina, as the role often requires standing for long periods and lifting or moving materials.
