Job Description
Responsible and answerable for all activities undertaken in the transportation of waste from the client’s site to the disposal and/ or treatment facilities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain the waste logistics and waste tracking systems for future decision-making
Work closely with the logistics coordinators to ensure that vehicles that transport waste are readily available and fit for purpose when required
Ensure that the project waste map is adhered to strictly
Ensure that any machinery, equipment, or vehicles used on the project are maintained correctly to meet agreed waste management, health, and safety standards in liaison with the fleet manager
Ensure records of all maintenance, statutory and insurance inspections that pertain to the project are up to date and well kept.
Ensure that all waste transportation equipment is labeled as per NEMA laws and is compliant with all waste transportation license conditions
Track waste transportation license conditions and ensure that the vehicles comply
Submit quarterly waste volumes transported on the project to the waste manager
Maintain updated records of all personnel and equipment on the project
Work with the site mechanic and fleet manager to ensure that all maintenance action items are closed within 7 days of reporting
Ensure all copies of training records are up to date and on record.
Coordinate development and implementation of training and awareness programs with regard to waste management activities
Manage logistics subcontractors and ensure that they meet the required project standards
Comply with operational and all legal requirements with regard to Health and Safety.
Implementation of programs to address recommendations from consultants or clients, monitoring reports and audits.
Take part in internal audits and follow up on corrective action
Actively participate in external audits related to logistics.
Develop and maintain a compliance system with respect to site permits and legislation
Any other relevant duties assigned in the area of jurisdiction.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration, transportation, or Engineering
Master’s degree / Post Graduate Diploma Environment Management is an added advantage.
Experience and Competency Requirement
Experience Required for Position: 5-10years experience in a similar role
Competencies Required for the Position:
Strong team player
Ability to manage, coach, and provide training for direct reports
Ability to use IVMS tracking system
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
Working knowledge of logistics and inventory software
Planning and organizing, leadership, problem solving, communication and negotiation skills, supervision skills, independent and self-motivated
Knowledge Requirement
QHSE: Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment procedures and methods involved in the transportation of waste and dangerous goods
Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques and coordination of people and resources.

5. Response Time: Timely Daily/ Weekly/ Monthly reporting – As Communicated by Company and Project Manager
